So You Wanna Be A Police Officer?

We here at theNewk get the New Kensington
Nixle updates.

And we got an interesting one this evening.

Check it out:

Accepting applications for the City of New Kensington Citizens Police Academy.

The city police department is accepting applications for the City of New Kensington Citizens Police Academy. The program is 6 months long (meeting every 2nd Wednesday of each month starting in May 2010).

Students will learn a variety of police related subjects.

DUI/Traffic Stops
Computer Crime
Drug/General Investigations
4th/5th Amendments
Use of Force/C.E.R.T (SWAT)
Crime Prevention

Requirements are you must be at least 18 years of age, be a city resident, and have no felonies. If you are interested in attending, please e-mail Officer Dino DiGiacobbe at: digiacobbe18@comcast.net or call me and leave a message on my voice mail at: 724.339.7533 or 7534. Leave your full name and address with a contact number.

Applicants must fill out a registration form and sign a waiver permitting the police department to conduct a background check. Seats are limited and on a first come first serve basis. Deadline: April 23, 2010

Tell us that doesn't sound like a blast.

Go on, tell us!

Seriously though, we are really considering trying this out.

Even though we are a little older.

If we get a good group together, we could be like
Steve Guttenberg and the rest of the Police
Academy crew.

We can even trick Lt. Harris into going to the Blue Oyster.

This is off-topic of the entry but did you see the Shop N Save in Downtown Central Plaza is going to re-open TOMORROW! (the 22nd!) I guess I missed the memo because I just found out.

less than 3 days to enroll

I would have thought they could do better than this, but government seems to work this way.
