A Sad Day

We've said it before, and we'll say it again...

Some news in bigger than Newk news.

And unfortunately, this is sad news.

One of the city of Pittsburgh's most beloved figures has
passed away.

You may know him as the "Lemonade Guy" or
the "Cotton Candy Here Guy."

Either way, you probably already know who we're
talking about.

That's right, kids...

Kenny Geidel has passed.

He was a special man.

Not only did he quench your thirst with a cold coca-cola, or a
delicious lemonade at the Bucco game.

He satisfied your sweet tooth with a nice cone of
cotton candy at the Pens games.

Mr. Geidel was 64 years old.

He had been selling concessions since the mid 80's.

If everyone would do their jobs with the determination
and compassion that he did, the world would be a
much better place.

Penguins president David Morehouse issued the following statement:

“Ken provided great service to our fans and was part of the fabric of a Penguins game at Mellon Arena or CONSOL Energy Center. The history of Pittsburgh sports is unique because it includes not just great players and coaches, but also memorable vendors and ushers. Ken was part of that history. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family.”

The Pirates held a moment of silence prior to
last night's game in honor of Mr. Geidel.
