Goodbye, Old Friend.

Sadly, it has taken something so life changing, so insane, so disappointing, to get us to post again.

Maybe you haven't ridden by the corner of Seventh St and Freeport Rd lately, and if that's the case, this news may be quite shocking for you. So please brace yourselves.

The wall is coming down.

No, not that wall.

We are talking about THE wall that is known throughout the NewKdom. Yep, the Biff wall.

Work has begun on bringing it down, brick, by beautiful Pepto-bismol colored brick.

This is usually the part of the post where we find out why it's coming down, and give you all the details. Unfortunately for you, we don't give a damn what's gonna happen in this space.

We only feel bitterness for not being a part of this wall's history, by never replacing the historic words of "I 💓 Biff" upon it when it got painted over.

This, is our only regret.

May we all make it our life's mission to pass along what we've learned to those we love. The young generation. The innocent minds of tomorrow's youth.

It is our duty.


And props to you, TJH. The final artist of many.

We aren't sure when the whole put your initials under it started, but it worked out in your case.

Christmas Makes theNewk Grow Fonder

Yeah, we're back.

But don't get too excited.  We are super important these days, and don't have the time to babble silly rantings to our thousands of adoring fans.

Who are we kidding. We ain't got crap going on.

So anyways, why we are breaking our silence...

It's Christmas time!

We love Christmas.

Here is a little info we'd like to share really fast with you...

Tonight at 5:30, the city will be lighting the Christmas tree down by the clock on 9th.  We know, we know, the clock doesn't work. But that's not what is important here.

After the tree ceremony, the Mayor is hosting his annual free dinner at the fire hall on 4th.  So go eat!

Then tomorrow morning, the big event. The Christmas parade! Sadly, we won't be a part of it again this year, and we are sorry to deprive this fair town of the North Pole's Biggest Elf.  Followed by Santa's Workshop at the community college.

Get Out And Vote

The primary elections are being held today. 

By now, you likely have picked which sign you liked the most, and plan on casting your vote for that candidate/candidates.

We do not plan on influencing your vote today.

A longtime friend of the site is running for Westmoreland County Coroner. 

He has served locally for many years, and is very well qualified to take this position. 

His name is Christopher O'Leath. 

He is a solid guy that we feel will do a great job. 

You may have to write him in, depending upon your party affiliation. 

But that's not hard. 

So do it.

Still Closed. Always Relevant.

Sure, we may not be around all that much these days. 

But that doesn't mean people aren't still watching us. 

Last Monday, we gave you a hint to the following day's story. 

Tuesday, we hit you with the news that the Memorial Park bridge was being removed/replaced. 

We told you to go say your goodbyes. 

Fast forward 2 days later to Thursday, and you could read about it in the local paper. 

Lucky for you, being one of our valued readers (or 1300+ facebook fans), you were given time to pay your final respects, thanks to us. 

For free. 

And now, the bridge has been fully removed, and all ways in to the park are closed. 

Actually, that last statement is not fully true. 

Fact is, the walking bridge near the playground is still fully functional. 

Unfortunately for everyone, the nearest parking spot would be in the Terrace. 

And we all know that the only parking spots up there are for handicap vehicles, or occupied by a folding chair. 

So good luck with that. 

Maybe the VND can do a story on that?

It's a sad day for many of us. 

The sound of that bridge likely reminds you of many great childhood memories.

Or maybe you just played at another one of the city's parks. 

Either way... 

Have a quick moment of silence. 

Pour out a slug of your 40oz. 

Drop a tear in a bucket.

It has served us all very well.
